Kismet Inn's One-of-a-Kind Wedding

A wedding at the Kismet Inn just like everything else at the inn is absolutely unique. Shadi, the owner, believes in tradition and doing things the old-fashioned way, so instead of plastic champagne glasses and rented tablecloths, your wedding tables will be graced with beautiful antiques from old Maine homes. Instead of the usual catered meal of chicken or beef, you can have a one-of-a-kind, delicious, exotic meal prepared by Shadi in her own kitchen.

Your Wedding

If you choose, you can have both your ceremony and reception at the inn.  The ceremony would be held in the intimacy of the attic with gentle light pouring in from all sides and through the skylights.  The reception is a family style dinner served in the dining room, sun porch and tearoom.  And finally, the cake is cut in the library with a beautiful view of the town green.  This i truly a memorable occasion in a charming old Maine home.

The Cost & other details

About The Food

All the ingredients are local, natural and organic. The meat is lamb purchased from Crystal Spring Farm in Brunswick - only 11.5 miles from the inn. The lambs roam around freely grazing on the grass soaking in the sun, thus the meat is exceptionally good. Also the fact they don't have to be packaged to travel thousands of miles adds even more to the taste and freshness of the meat.

The cheese and butter is also local. The butter is from Post Family Farm in Auburn, Maine. It is a third generation farm where everything is done by hand and horse power, no machinery is used. It is pure, raw and MOFGA (Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association) certified. It takes 7 years for a farm to be certified by MOFGA. So are the vegetables and herbs used for the dinner.

Appetizer:
Feta cheese & butter mixed and kneaded for several hours then some dill is added. The mixture is put on platter in the shape of a dome decorated with walnuts and olives. It is served with flat bread (lavash) made by Shadi.

Entree:
Leg of lamb - the fat is removed completely then marinated in salt, pepper, olive oil, rosemary, crushed garlic, crushed ginger, cloves of garlic & almond inserted in different parts of the lamb, soy sauce, wine infused with saffron. The meat and aromatic vegetables are cooked for 7 hours on the day of the wedding right here in the kitchen situated in the heart of the Kismet Inn. The aroma simply makes you hungry by the minute.

Rainbow rice -
White Basmati rice made with julienne carrots, slivered pistachio, almond, orange peel, currents, barberries, saffron, cardamom & cinnamon. The aroma of the rice and lamb infused together makes the wait even more difficult.

Greens:
During winter or colder months, carrots and beans
During summer or warmer months, green leaves salad with Shadi's special salad dressing.

Drink will be sour cherry juice and water. Tea or coffee will be served with the cake.

The Cost:
$110 per person
20% Gratuity
7% Tax
This includes the space, dinner, champagne.
Wine is extra
If you wish flower arrangements, wedding cake, a minister or justice of peace can be arranged at extra cost.

Kismet Inn is delighted to offer on of the rooms free of charge as a gift to the bride and the groom on the night of the wedding.
